INSPIRATION…
Ryan Kerr, age 12, of Wayne, Pennsylvania,
was diagnosed with a rare form of
Childhood Cancer.
For almost six years Ryan fought through
fifteen surgeries, thirty months of
chemotherapy, five recurrences of the cancer,
and the amputation of his right leg. Despite
his tragic illness, throughout his
ordeal - Ryan lived a full life,
including school, and numerous
sports activities.
Ryan’s Mother, Cindy, decided to make his hospital room more personal and cheerful by making bright, colorful, whimsical pillowcases for him. Cindy soon discovered her simple act of love for her son could make a difference. She made pillowcases for all the Children in the Oncology Ward.
Sadly, Ryan, a remarkable young man, lost his battle with Cancer in February 2008. Cindy promised Ryan she would continue the pillowcase program for Children with Cancer or other Life Threatening illness’s.
ConKerr Cancer, a non-profit organization has 117 Chapters. Thousands of volunteers from across the United States, Canada, and South Africa are donating their time, creativity, and effort to make colorful pillowcases, and to create smiles for the Children, and their families.
